Azienda Agricola Olearia San Giorgio

Since its foundation in 1940 by the founder Dominico Fazari, the family Fazari now in its third generation, participates industriously in the activities of cultivation, harvesting, olive processing, packaging and marketing of oil products. On the slopes of the Aspromonte National Park, in the municipalities of San Giorgio Morgeto and Cittanova, there are most of the 130 hectares of the olive groves of the farm. The company pays special attention to issues related to the green economy; between business goals achieved in 2013, the innovation of the extraction cycle rises among the others. In 2010, the company initiated the contribution of the husks to a native cattle farm for the production of biogas, and the separation of the residue from the pit, intended for the production of thermal energy. With the operation of a photovoltaic system, installed in June 2012, the company's energy needs are fully complied; moreover, complying with the conduct of vital and conscious respect for the environment and nature, by the end of 2014, a biomass plant combining heat and power will be completed to produce 200 kW of power. The olive varieties produced in the farm are the Ottobratica, the Carolea, the Sinopolese, and the Roggianella, from which excellent extra virgin olive oils are obtained.
